Study Credits explained.
What are Study Credits?
Study Credits are credits awarded by the Department of Social Security for eligible periods of completed study. They are used for Social Security contribution purposes. They are not ECTS academic credits and are not a cash payment.
Where can I get my academic transcript?
You may already have received your academic transcript with, or separately from, your qualification certificate. Check the documents you received when you completed your course. If you do not have it, contact the institution or education provider where you studied and ask for an official academic transcript or equivalent record of results.
Which study categories can I calculate here?
The calculator covers the Study Credits categories published by DSS: Lifelong Learning and MQF Levels 5, 6, 7 and 8. Use the MQF level stated for your qualification. MQF Level 5 can include awards such as Undergraduate Higher Diploma, Undergraduate Diploma, Undergraduate Certificate and VET Level 5.
Does part-time study qualify?
The published DSS wording refers to a full-time course of studies or instruction. Part-time or unusual study arrangements should be confirmed directly with DSS or Servizz.gov.
What if my course was shorter than one academic year or does not fit whole academic years?
DSS states that no Study Credits are due where a course is shorter than one academic year or two academic semesters. The calculator uses whole completed academic years; confirm unusual durations directly with DSS.
Is this official, and does this website store my information?
No. This is an independent community guide, not a Government of Malta service. The website is static and has no backend, database, account system or document upload. Nothing you enter is stored by this website. Until you choose an email action, your details remain in your browser; opening an email service passes the generated draft to that service.
